Sermon Note

Jesus always give us His best. A life living with Jesus, a relationship with Him, not always something dramatic, but unimpressive and ordinary moments, He is still the One we live our lives with. The sweetness of walking with Him

How to make Jesus centre?

King David was a man after God’s own heart.

David is the man who had Jesus in his heart.

Psalm 132:3-5

“Surely I will not go into the chamber of my house,

Or go up to the comfort of my bed;

I will not give sleep to my eyes

Or slumber to my eyelids,

Until I find a place for the Lord,

A dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

At that time it was Saul who was the king. He did nothing to bring the ark back.

wait in expectation. First thing wake up, give our mornings to Him

1 Chronicles 17:16–27 (NKJV) King David sits before the Lord in humility and prayer, overwhelmed by God’s promise to establish a lasting dynastic house rather than letting David build a physical temple for the Ark of the Covenant

Psalm 5:3 NKJV

My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord;

In the morning I will direct it to You,

And I will look up.

Psalm 5:3 NIV In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly

1 Chronicles 28:4 NKJV Howbeit the LORD God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel for ever: for he hath chosen Judah to be the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked me to make me king over all Israel

1st key: when you know God likes you, loves you. It becomes an overflowing and outflow of your life to make Jesus the centre.

When you know God likes you, you run to His presence.

What about King Saul, did God ever say He likes Saul?

God loves David but did not say He likes Saul?

Who said God likes David? David himself said!

David knew that God likes him.

When God makes Saul king, Saul did not say anything.

David focused on God’s goodness and how much God likes him

1 Samuel 15:15-24

15 And Saul said, “They have brought them from the Amalekites; for the people spared the best of the sheep and the oxen, to sacrifice to the Lord your God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.”

16 Then Samuel said to Saul, “Be quiet! And I will tell you what the Lord said to me last night.”

And he said to him, “Speak on.”

17 So Samuel said, “When you were little in your own eyes, were you not head of the tribes of Israel? And did not the Lord anoint you king over Israel? 18 Now the Lord sent you on a mission, and said, ‘Go, and utterly destroy the sinners, the Amalekites, and fight against them until they are [a]consumed.’ 19 Why then did you not obey the voice of the Lord? Why did you swoop down on the [b]spoil, and do evil in the sight of the Lord?”

20 And Saul said to Samuel, “But I have obeyed the voice of the Lord, and gone on the mission on which the Lord sent me, and brought back Agag king of Amalek; I have utterly destroyed the Amalekites. 21 But the people took of the plunder, sheep and oxen, the best of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice to the Lord your God in Gilgal.”

22 So Samuel said:

“Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.

23 For rebellion is as the sin of [c]witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king.”

24 Then Saul said to Samuel, “I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice.

Saul focused if the people like him

David focused on God likes him.

David focused on God liking him

When he faced his enemy, his focus is not on his enemy or on his challenge or on himself, he focused on the Lord.

When David faced his enemy who is so much stronger than him, he said the Lord will deliver you into my hands!

I will strike but God will deliver.

When your eyes and attention is on the Lord, when you face your enemy, your attention is how God will strike your enemies and destroy your enemies. God is for you and He likes you and is for you.

When you focus on no one is for you, you will be devastated.

If you are like David, focus on God likes you and God is for you

Psalms 59:1-4 Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; Defend me from those who rise up against me.

Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, And save me from bloodthirsty men.

For look, they lie in wait for my life; The mighty gather against me, Not for my transgression nor for my sin, O Lord.

They run and prepare themselves through no fault of mine. Awake to help me, and behold!

1 Samuel 19:10-11

Then Saul sought to pin David to the wall with the spear, but he slipped away from Saul’s presence; and he drove the spear into the wall. So David fled and escaped that night.

Saul also sent messengers to David’s house to watch him and to kill him in the morning. And Michal, David’s wife, told him, saying, “If you do not save your life tonight, tomorrow you will be killed.”

David brought the ark back

When you have Jesus as the centre of your life, like David, he knew God is a good God.

When you have Jesus as the centre of your life, you know that you know that your God is a faithful and a good God. He likes you and He is for you.

1 Samuel 6:13-14

Now the people of Beth Shemesh were reaping their wheat harvest in the valley; and they lifted their eyes and saw the ark, and rejoiced to see it. Then the cart came into the field of Joshua of Beth Shemesh, and stood there; a large stone was there. So they split the wood of the cart and offered the cows as a burnt offering to the Lord. Jesus is fully Man and He knew no sin and no sin in Him

Overlay with gold - this is humanity, Jesus is perfect God and perfect Man

The ark, the box has mercy seats. The eyes look at one thing, it is the ark

When we are radical about the blood, when we focus on Him and what He has done, and how good He is, we remember the most important thing

Beating ourselves up will not bring any good results.

The sacrifice, the blood, what Jesus has done, forgiven, forever righteous, loved and beloved, we need this everyday

We make mistakes everyday

Think about His love, think about His grace

His work that is so perfect, so finished. All our sins forgiven. Made completely righteous. I stand complete in Him and I worship Him

This made us run to Him

Sermon Note

16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
